Acrylic nails are the hottest trend and the coolest way to add some length and glam to your nails. However it can also be the worst thing to happen to your nails, especially if you don’t take them properly. It’s always best to take it off at the salon but time and money can become a challenge. Do not fret, there is another way. We are here to show you how to remove acrylics safely at home without any stress. Follow these steps below and your nails will be great:
1. Clip Your Nails:
Cut off the extra length as short as possible, so you don’t waste your time with it.
2. File Away:
Use a grit file to scrap off the top coat, nail polish or any color to avoid getting your hands messy and full of color.
3. Apply Petroleum Jelly:
Put some petroleum jelly on the skin surrounding your cuticles to protect them.
4. Soak Off in Acetone:
There are two ways to do this. One way is to soak your fingers in a bowl of acetone (you can dilute it with some water if you want), this is the simpler option but not the best as it can be harsh on your skin. The other way:
Soak cotton balls in acetone and place it on your nails. Tear a piece of aluminium foil and wrap it over the cotton ball so that it stays in place. Wait for 25 – 30 mins.
5. Pull off the Foil Gently:
The Acrylic nail should come off with it. If it’s still abit tough, DO NOT PULL HARD, wrap it up again and try again.
6. Scrap Off:
Use a soft buffer or cuticle pusher to scrape off the softened product.
– Your nail might not look the same afterwards, especially if the technician didn’t apply the Acrylics properly in the first place, or if you didn’t take them off carefully.
– Be patient. If acrylics are done patiently, your nails might not suffer much damage.
