Hair removal can be very tricky business, especially if you’re doing it yourself. Getting rid of those tiny strands of hair on your lip, toes, your lady spot, your arm or wherever is not so easy as you think it should be. Of course you can go to the salon and let someone else handle all the work, it will definitely cost you. If you’re trying to cut down on the cash you spend at the salon then this is for you.
There are lots of different options when it comes to dealing with body hair. It’s easy to pluck out a stray hair on your chin but not as easy to pluck out your entire bikini line.
To help guide you, we put together a list of hair removal methods and tools that work best to get rid off any unnecessary hair
1. Laser: Laser hair removal works best on people with dark hair and light skin, as it works by targeting pigment in the hair follicle. If your skin-tone is darker than fair-to-medium or have light hair, this is not an option for you.
This is one of the best ways to reduce unwanted hair permanently
Pros: It’s has a long lasting effect than other methods, but takes several sessions to get that smooth finish. Laser hair removal has been proven to permanently reduce unwanted hair over tome if you stick with it.
Cons: It’s not exactly cheap. Sad fact that dark skinned women can’t use it.
2. Depilatory Cream: This is quite painless and inexpensive. This can be used on your face and body especially if you have thick, coarse hair.
Pros: It dissolves hair beneath the skin, so you won’t get coarse regrowth. It’s also quite affordable.
Cons: If you have super sensitive skin then this IS NOT for you as the chemicals can be a bit strong and can cause irritation and burns.
It doesn’t last much longer than shaving, at least 3-5days. Be sure to not leave too long on your skin to avoid burns.
Why don’t you try our combo deal Depilatory Hair Removal Wax.
3. Waxing: Waxing can be intimidating as it involves ripping hair off your skin. Look for products that have a creamy consistency with titanium dioxide in it. They’re less sticky, less painful and leave less residue.
Before waxing, you should clean and exfoliate your skin properly to prep it.
Pros: If your hair is sparse and doesn’t grow fast, you could get two or three weeks of totally smooth skin, but if your hair grows fast, you could get at least a week of smooth skin.
One other good thing is: Its relatively cheap
Cons: The hair has to be at least 1/4 inch long so that the wax can grab onto it, and if its too long yanking it out will be extremely painful. So trim before you apply wax. If you’re using a formula that requires heating in the microwave oven then you should make sure it’s not too hot before putting it on your skin. Also make sure you haven’t shaved for at least three days before waxing.
4. Shaving: This is the most popular method and also the cheapest method. It’s easy and quick to do and can be done in the comfort of your own home.
Pros: It’s cheap and easy to do.
Cons: It doesn’t last long, depending on your hair type and growth. It could take at least 3 days before you start seeing new growth.
Another disadvantage of using this method is you’ll most likely get razor bumps and ingrown hairs especially around the bikini area.
Be sure to use high performance razors to get best results.
NOTE: If you’re someone with lots of facial hair then you can use our Facial Hair Removal Spring. However, this tool should not be used on your eyebrows.
