No one wants to look older than they really are especially when you get older and wiser. As children, we might have loved the notion of looking older than our age but as adults, that’s hardly the case. We want to slow the ageing process, look younger and be mistaken for a younger person. Hence, we do all we can to appear younger.
So, this question comes into play. Can you add years to your life by making smarter food choices? Yes! There are many variables involved in how long you live, but by following a healthy lifestyle, staying active and eating a nutrient-packed diet, you can help slow the aging process.
We have all heard the saying “you are what you eat”. It therefore goes to show that eating healthy and making healthier eating choices would only benefit us in the long run.
Foods we can eat to slow down the aging process include:
- Raw, Organic Eggs: Incorporate this into your diet.
- Leafy Greens: Eat leafy greens such as spinach, kale, turnip e.t.c. Leafy greens like spinach and kale are also packed with cancer-fighting antioxidants like beta carotene, vitamin C, and sulforaphane.
- Garlic: The component of garlic, allicin, which causes the familiar strong smell and flavor, is actually an extremely effective antioxidant. As allicin digests in your body it produces sulfenic acid, a compound that reacts faster with dangerous free radicals than any other known compound.
- Olive Oil
- Red wine
