KITCHEN TRICKS AND TIPS YOU NEED TO KNOW

They say there is nothing new under the sun, so also nobody knows everything. You can be knowledgeable in one thing and not in another. There are so many kitchen tricks we don’t know. Here is a list of tricks that could help you today in your kitchen.

EEG SHELLS: When you break an egg and the piece falls into the bowl, use the remaining shell to scoop out the shell inside the bowl.

MAKING CRYSTAL CLEAR ICE: Use cooled down water that has been boiled to make your ice. it makes it crystal clear.

BURNT RICE: Place a slice of white bread on top of the rice for 5-10 minutes to draw out the burned flavour. Be careful not to scrape the burned pieces off of the bottom of the pot when serving the rice.

PEEL YOUR GINGER WITH A SPOON: Use a spoon to peel your ginger. It will peel it faster.

SALTY SOUP: Add one peeled potato or to the soup. The potato will help to absorb the excess salt.

CRACKED EGGS: Add a pinch of salt to keep your egg shells from cracking.

WHEN REUSING OIL: To reuse cooking oil without tasting whatever was cooked in the oil previously, while heating the oil, drop a small piece of fresh ginger. It absorbs any flavors and odors.

TO BANISH ANTS: Find out where they are coming in and cover the hole with petroleum jelly/Vaseline. Ants won’t pass through the jelly. If they are coming under a door, draw a line on the floor with chalk. The little bugs also won’t cross a line of chalk.

TO AVOID DAMP SMELL: When storing empty airtight containers, throw in a pinch of salt to avoid having damp smell in the container.

CLEANING IRON POTS: To clean iron pots and pans, avoid using detergents. Alternatively, scrub them with salt and a clean dry paper towel.

STORING BANANAS: Don’t store your bananas in a bunch or in a fruit bowl with other fruits. Separate your bananas and place each in a different location because it would cause the other fruits to ripen quickly.
TO DEFROST MEAT: When defrosting meat from the freezer, pour some vinegar over it. It would help tenderize the meat and also bring down the freezing temperature of the meat causing it to thaw quicker.

TOO MUCH FAT IN STEW: Drop in an ice cube. The ice attracts the fat, which you can then scoop out. This works wonders.
WHEN GLASSES GET STUCK: If two drinking glasses become stuck together after stacking, it’s not impossible to separate them. Just put ice in the inner glass and dunk the outer glass in warm water. The warm glass will expand and the cold glass will contract, making the glasses separate easily.
